XMRV Retrovirus

Update: August 20th 2010

A proposal by Dr. Dr. Burrascano to change the name from XAND to HGRAD and XMRV to HGRV has been put forward. More info to come out at the upcoming NIH retroviral conference this September.

Welcome to XAND and XMRV .com! After the big XAND
(X Associated Neuro-immune Disease) announcement about the new link discovered between ME/CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) and the XMRV retrovirus, we have decided to setup an information portal as loads of new information is likely to be coming over the next few months and years. So far all we know is that one study has found this XAND link, so the next step will be to see if further independent studies come up with the similar results.

XAND is the name of the new condition which is caused by the retrovirus XMRV. It has yet to be proven if the XMRV retrovirus is the main cause behind ME/CFS or if it just another opportunistic virus that takes hold as a result of being unwell in the first place. However, as XMRV stops the immune system from functioning properly it would explain why each patient has such varying symptoms, as all kinds of opportunistic viruses and bacteria with varying effects on the body would flourish from person to person.
