Confusion over CDC and FDA/NIH XMRV studies
There was alot of confusion last week after it emerged that 2 conflicting US government body XMRV studies were both ready to be released in separate medical journals with totally conflicting conclusions. The CDC study found no XMRV while the FDA and NIH study found similar results to the original XMRV Science paper published late last year. With the conflicting findings ready to be revealed to the scientific community a very unusual event occurred where both papers were put on hold. The following day the negative CDC paper was released but the FDA and NIH paper has been delayed before being published. It appears that the FDA and NIH papers are now being reviewed further before getting the go ahead again to be published.
